Associate Patient Care Coordinator

to join our team. The coordinator is responsible for completing set processes and protocols, working cooperatively with the care team to support the organization’s mission, delivering excellent customer service and adhering to Lean processes. Supports the teams in meeting financial, clinical and service goals.
Schedule : Office is open seven days a week. This role is a 37.5-hour work week.

Primary Responsibilities

Greets patients, family members and guests with a friendly smile
Assists patients with signing in and completing registration
Enters and scans patient’s demographic and insurance information into Epic
Verifies insurance eligibility and benefit information; informs patients of insurance benefits
Follow the Payment Security policy and procedures according to Optum Medical guidelines
Maintain a work queue list and complete pending actions (e.g., referrals, scheduling appointments)
Check In and Check Out patients
Answer incoming phone calls courteously and promptly; direct calls and take messages
Coordinate follow-up care for patients with physician and clinical staff; schedule referral appointments and obtain authorizations for diagnostic testing
Send patient records to primary care physician
Assist with other tasks as assigned
Obtain accurate and updated patient information (name, address, insurance information)
Perform insurance verification on the date of service
Obtain patient signatures for required documents
Answering incoming and outgoing telephone calls promptly and courteously
Adhere to Optum Employee Policies as identified via Sparq
Work cohesively with fellow employees to achieve team goals
Maintain composure in a fast-paced environment
Ensure continuity of care through scheduling and tracking systems
Comply with administrative policies to ensure quality of care
Demonstrate precision and efficiency in scanning documents and managing the fax server
Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and OSHA requirements
Be cross trained as needed
Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED
1+ years of computer proficiency (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word) and multi-tasking across applications
1+ years of customer service or healthcare-related experience
Ability to travel to other offices when needed for coverage
Ability to be cross-trained as a Medical Assistant
Ability to work a 37.5-hour week with the following schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9:00am–9:00pm; Wednesday 9:00am–3:00pm; Saturday or Sunday 9:00am–6:00pm

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with an electronic health record (EPIC)
Knowledge of medical terminology
Knowledge of insurance carriers and managed care plans
1+ years of experience in medical front office/urgent care with duties such as scheduling, check-in/out, insurance verification, co-pays and medical records
Bilingual in Spanish and English

Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
