Job Purpose
To provide non‑professional direct resident care duties under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel, and to assist in maintaining a positive physical and psychosocial environment for residents.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Personal Care, Nursing Care, and Food Service Functions:

Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, changing bed linens, and positioning in and out of bed and chair.

Assist with resident recreation programs.

Prepare residents for meals and snacks, assist residents in eating when needed, and record food intake.

Read and follow daily care plans; perform assigned restorative and rehabilitative procedures.

Report changes in resident condition to the nurse in charge.

Document care provision on resident records/flowsheets as required and report accidents and incidents.

Provide nursing functions as directed by the supervisor.

Safety, Sanitation and Infection Control:

Understand and follow safety, sanitation, and infection control policies and procedures, including proper hand washing, wearing masks and gloves, and promptly reporting any violations to supervisor.

In‑service and Continuing Education:

Attend orientation and in‑services as required by state; complete all required online education as deemed necessary by the state and facility.

Resident Rights and Relationships:

Understand, comply with, and promote all rules regarding residents’ rights; promote positive relationships with residents, visitors, and government regulators while presenting a professional appearance and attitude.

Other Job Functions – Support:

Assist in admission, transfer, and discharge of residents.

Staff Development:

Attend and participate in training, educational activities, and staff meetings; assist with orientation and training of other staff.

Other Duties:

Other duties as assigned.

Physical and Sensory Requirements
Works in a climate‑controlled, well‑lighted environment throughout the building daily. Requires walking, reaching, climbing, bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, and the ability to distinguish smells, tastes, and temperatures. Requires ability to communicate with residents and employees, understand and follow training, instruct staff in service education, and remain calm under stress.

Qualifications
Must be a Certified Nursing Aide in good standing with the State or, within four (4) months of employment, have completed state‑required training and a competency evaluation program.

Must be able to read, write, and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job.

Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents and families and work cooperatively with other associates.

Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.

Must be capable of performing the essential job functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
