Low Voltage Technician
This position is responsible for assisting in the operation of multiple facilities. An individual in this position will be expected to perform additional job related responsibilities and duties as assigned and/or as necessary.

Essential Functions

Sets up and configures various low voltage systems (for example, security systems, fire alarms, CCTV, audio/video systems, network cabling).

Runs, terminates, and labels cables according to project requirements and industry standards.

Performs regular maintenance checks to ensure system functionality and reliability; identifies and resolves issues promptly to minimize downtime.

Provides technical support and training to end users on operating and maintaining low voltage systems; addresses customer inquiries professionally.

Ensures all installations and repairs adhere to local, state, and federal regulations.

Follows all safety guidelines; maintains accurate records of installations, maintenance, and repairs; generates reports on system performance and issues resolved.

Evaluates existing systems for upgrades or enhancements; performs system upgrades to improve performance or comply with new standards.

Works closely with other technicians, engineers, and project managers to ensure successful project completion.

Communicates effectively with clients to understand needs and provide solutions, staying abreast of the latest industry trends and technologies.

Leads and participates in teams, coordinating work assignments, providing advice, feedback, and support to achieve timelines and quality.

Develops processes and practices to meet business needs by collaborating with managers, co-workers, customers, and partners; monitors progress and identifies improvement opportunities.

Promotes compliance with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards; assists with correcting issues and upholding policies.

Physical Activities

Observes behavior, reaches overhead and below knees, bends, twists, pulls, stoops.

Safely operates motor vehicles and large power equipment; works in long periods of standing, sitting, kneeling, or crawling.

Visually inspects equipment; creates documents and reports.

Performs presentations to groups and individuals.

Travel

Travels domestically to and from multiple facilities or work sites, including overnight stays.

Works or trains at multiple facilities or distant locations.

Work Environment

Moves through narrow or confined spaces such as stacks of merchandise, storage areas, or closets.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Prior experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

Prior experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.

Prior experience in a role requiring knowledge of local electrical codes and standards.

Preferred Qualifications

Training or certification in low voltage systems.

BICSI installer certification.

CompTIA certifications for networking (e.g., Network+).

Manufacturer‑specific certifications (e.g., Honeywell, Axis, Bosch). OSHA 10 or 30‑hour certification/training.

NICET 1 & 2 Fire Alarm certification.
