We are seeking an experienced
Sterile Processing Technician
responsible for ensuring the proper decontamination, preparation, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and patient care equipment. This role plays a critical part in maintaining patient safety and supporting surgical teams by ensuring all instruments are processed accurately and efficiently. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, team-focused, and capable of working in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform decontamination, cleaning, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment
Prepare and package instrument sets and trays according to established protocols
Operate sterilization equipment and ensure proper functioning and safety standards
Maintain knowledge of appropriate materials for wrapping and sterilization methods
Manage case cart preparation and ensure timely availability of surgical instruments
Utilize instrument tracking systems (e.g., ABACUS/Microsystems) to monitor inventory and workflow
Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and defects
Adhere to infection control policies and regulatory standards
Assist with inventory management and restocking of supplies
Collaborate effectively with surgical teams and other healthcare staff
Handle physical demands including prolonged standing, lifting, and transporting equipment
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or CBSPD certification required
Minimum 3 years of experience in sterile processing required
10+ years of experience preferred
Knowledge of surgical instruments, especially Orthopedic and Neuro instrument sets
Experience with sterilization techniques and equipment operation
Familiarity with instrument tracking systems preferred
Basic computer proficiency
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Good communication and comprehension skills (reading, writing, and understanding English)
High attention to detail and organizational skills
13-week contract position
Shift is 8 hrs/day (3 PM - 11 PM), 40 hrs/week
Location is Morristown, NJ 07960
Pay Range for Locals: $30 - $35 per hour
Pay Range for Travelers: $1,500 - $1,530 per week
