Job Description
As a member of the NBC Sports Communications Department, the Manager, Communications is responsible for working on day‑to‑day publicity around NBC Sports’ portfolio of events, including golf, MLB, Big Ten Football and basketball, Premier League soccer, NFL, horse racing, cycling, and Olympic sports (including the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics). This position will work on key events and properties, supporting coverage at major events and leading on select properties.

The role requires collaboration with NBC Sports’ production, programming, and marketing departments, as well as other communications departments within Comcast NBCUniversal.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute publicity strategy to secure media coverage on NBC Sports’ properties, events, and key stakeholders.

Write and distribute press releases.

Create, manage and evolve press lists and targets.

Interact with talent, pitch stories, arrange interviews, and prepare messaging.

Contribute social media content and ideas for NBC Sports Communications’ platforms.

Support all properties and events where appropriate.

Coordinate with other areas of NBC Sports (Talent, Production, Programming, Marketing) daily to develop story ideas.

Assist with press strategy, media inquiries, and events for NBC Sports.

Work with NBCUniversal Ad Sales Communications to publicize and manage news related to advertising sales of events such as the Olympics, Super Bowl, and more.

Support other sports and initiatives in the department, including internal communications and CSR.

Identify and maintain personal relationships with key press and industry contacts.

Occasionally travel to events to assist PR efforts.

Field press inquiries.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:

Proactive communications professional with 5+ years of experience in sports and media, working with outlets covering sports, media, and entertainment.

Ability to cultivate and pitch stories, create messaging documents, prepare spokespeople, and handle inbound press inquiries.

Exceptional collaboration skills to work with internal and external groups.

Proven writing skills, with examples such as press releases, bios, or media guides.

Selected travel to key events presented by NBC Sports.

In‑office requirement of 4 days a week minimum, Monday through Thursday, based in Stamford, Conn.

Preexisting relationships with reporters across media, entertainment, music, style, and culture.

Excellent multitasking and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.

Collaborative team player who seeks partnership while leading and maintaining multiple value streams.

Experience working for a media company or within a large corporation a plus.

Proficiency with Photoshop, PowerPoint, and social media.

Hybrid: This position requires in‑office presence from Monday to Thursday, a minimum of four days per week, with the possibility of remote work. The Company reserves the right to change in‑office requirements at any time.
