Position Summary
The Project Engineer will assist the project superintendent or project manager in the development and coordination of all documentation, including job scheduling, cost controls, and client management of an assigned project. This position monitors required documentation for implementation, execution, and timely completion, informs management of job performance, and assists in job purchasing within approved budgets, while maintaining knowledge of the project plan, specifications, and safety protocols.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Know, understand, and live the company's mission statement and values.
Communicate with the client to understand their objectives and anticipate information needs.
Understand the prime contract as a GC and/or subcontract to a GC.
Prepare and handle all administrative tasks for the assigned project, including logs, submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs; assist with change orders.
Maintain communication with the client and client’s engineer.
Assist billing and procurement of payment under supervisor oversight.
Work with the superintendent to evaluate equipment needs and maximize use of company-owned equipment.
Review overall project cost and prepare monthly reports analyzing projected costs and man‑hour production.
Read and understand plans and specifications regularly.
Assist project management in directing additional job staff.
Assist in monitoring the buyout of the job, including subcontracts and purchase orders.
Analyze subcontractor and supplier capabilities for quality and quantity of work.
Assist in producing, directing, and monitoring the project schedule; provide monthly updates to the client as required.
Inform supervisors of upcoming direct hire work and site needs.
Assist in the project closeout process.
Review and approve daily timecards for all project labor staff.
Collect and submit certified payroll documents.
Comply with all company IIPP standards, safety practices, OSHA requirements, and local air quality rules.
Qualifications and Expectations
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the construction industry.
OSHA 30‑hour training (current or to be completed).
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and related company software.
Formal education in an accredited Construction Management program can substitute for some practical experience.
Experience developing major project schedules using industry software such as Suretrak, Primavera, or Microsoft Project.
Knowledge of current SWPP requirements and air quality control.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Understanding of AIA prime contracts and associated general conditions.
Valid driver’s license and insurability.
Willingness and ability to travel for prolonged periods to project assignments.
Knowledge of electrical power grid infrastructures.
Physical Abilities
Candidates must be physically and mentally capable of performing the essential duties, including sitting, standing, walking for extended periods, bending, kneeling, reaching, operating standard office equipment, inspecting records, and communicating at normal levels.
Salary Range: $80,000 - $120,000
