Opportunity
This position focuses on the design of structures for water purification and treatment facilities, making water supplies more resilient and sustainable. The engineer will design a variety of structural systems, broaden their design experience, and collaborate with other disciplines, while delivering critical water infrastructure projects to the community. The role also provides opportunities in other markets such as Power Generation, Industrial, Data Centers, and Power Delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Execute complex structural analysis, perform calculations, and prepare sketches and drawings for the design of water and wastewater treatment plants, industrial facilities, and other complex structural facilities.
Supervise Structural Engineers (both in the US and overseas offices) and work with Structural Technicians in preparation of structural drawings and specifications.
Lead larger production teams and serve as the responsible charge for projects.
Perform construction phase engineering duties such as site visits, responding to RFIs, and reviewing contractor submittals.
Perform project administrative tasks, including preparation of design fee estimates, monitoring progress against budget and schedule, managing project changes, and implementing Black & Veatch Quality Control requirements.
Coordinate work with architects and other discipline engineers.
Lead a team to execute complex projects with construction values up to $100M.
Provide guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and B&V policies; assist in developing, maintaining, and updating engineering standards; support continuous improvement efforts.
Implement resource management strategy including managing resources for a small group.
Preferred Qualifications
Master of Engineering or Master of Science from an ABET accredited Structural Engineering program.
Familiarity with the latest editions of the International Building Code, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC Steel Construction Manual, and ACI 530.
Proficiency with structural analysis software such as RISA 3D, STAADPro, or SAP 2000.
Proficiency with non-structural software packages such as Bluebeam, ProjectWise, AutoCAD, and Revit.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program in the home country or country of practice, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (criminal/civil background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search).
Active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries.
