Overview

St. Michael’s Catholic Preparatory School is an outstanding co-educational Independent Catholic school serving students from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade on two adjacent campuses in Austin, Texas. The Lower School comprises PreK 3-4th grades, the Middle School houses grades 5-8, and the High School contains grades 9-12. Summary Of Position

St. Michael’s Catholic Preparatory School seeks a dedicated and passionate Head Volleyball Coach to lead our varsity volleyball program. This full-time exempt position begins in Summer 2026 and also includes responsibilities as an Athletic Coordinator for the middle school, promoting athletic participation and fostering a love for sports among younger students.
Key Responsibilities

Head Volleyball Coach

Program Development: Design and implement a comprehensive volleyball program for varsity athletes, focusing on skill development, competitive play, and player safety.
Coaching & Training: Conduct regular practices, focusing on individual and team skills, game strategies, and overall performance improvement.
Team Management: Recruit, train, and manage assistant coaches and volunteers, ensuring alignment with the school’s mission and values.
Player Development: Mentor student-athletes to promote academic achievement, leadership skills, and personal development, both on and off the court.
Communication: Maintain effective communication with players, parents, and the athletic department regarding team expectations, schedules, and performance.
Game Management: Prepare for and manage game day logistics, including coordinating with officials and ensuring proper equipment and facilities are available.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable league guidelines and school policies concerning athletics.
Athletic Coordinator (Middle School)

Programming: Develop and oversee middle school athletic programs that encourage participation, skill development, and sportsmanship among students.
Coaching Support: Provide training and resources for middle school coaches to ensure they are equipped to support student-athletes effectively.
Community Engagement: Actively promote middle school athletics within the school community and encourage student participation.
Event Coordination: Organize and manage athletic events, practices, and competitions for middle school teams.
Liaison Role: Serve as a liaison between middle school athletics and the high school athletic program to ensure continuity and support for student-athletes transitioning from middle to high school.
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in physical education, sports management, or related field preferred.
Proven experience in coaching volleyball at the high school or collegiate level.
Strong knowledge of volleyball fundamentals, coaching techniques, and rules of the game.
Leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building positive relationships within the school community.
