Overview
The position of Production Chemist I is within the Toxicology Business Unit. Diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories, and clinics around the globe, providing crucial information for patient care decisions across a wide range of health conditions.
Responsibilities
Adhere to laboratory safety rules.
Read and understand Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to job functions.
Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly maintenance of laboratory equipment and maintain maintenance logbooks.
Manufacture products via batch records and/or SOPs following GMP guidelines and the Quality System.
Produce antibody solutions, drug positive solutions, enzyme‑conjugate solutions, EIA calibrators, controls, and reagents.
Perform analytical EIA in‑process testing.
Monitor temperature daily.
Support production tasks to meet manufacturing goals and objectives.
Participate in Lean activities.
Operate laboratory equipment safely, as trained and directed.
Maintain records and notebooks accurately; perform required data entry on planning and materials management systems; report results to supervisor.
Maintain a neat and organized workplace; ensure materials are labeled, approved, and sufficient.
Recommend and participate in document revisions for accurate BOM process descriptions and NCMR deviations.
Perform complex simple formulations, component and material evaluations, equipment calibrations and maintenance.
Work overtime and/or on weekends as needed.
Acknowledge quality consequences of improper performance and identify potential defects in design, verification, validation, manufacturing, and testing.
Under close supervision, perform manufacturing support functions involving lab equipment operation and procedural tasks in accordance with GMP.
Exhibit professional behavior with internal and external associates, reflecting positively on the company and building productive relationships.
Perform other duties as assigned, according to business needs.
Required Qualifications
BA or BS in Chemistry or Biological Sciences.
0 to 2 (or more) years of laboratory experience.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to follow detailed instructions, maintain accurate records, and carry out assignments conscientiously while adhering to safe laboratory practices.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with a variety of lab equipment and their operation.
Demonstrated problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
Process‑oriented, logical, analytical, meticulous, highly organized with data analysis and solution implementation.
Ability to work in a team while meeting individual responsibilities and objectives.
Knowledge of MS Office and other manufacturing systems.
Adaptability and willingness to take on multiple new tasks and responsibilities.
Independent collaborative self‑starter capable of making quality‑related decisions in real time.
