Adjunct Instructor for Public Speaking, a subject matter expert in their discipline, shall assist Haskell Indian Nations University in developing and implementing college-level courses and a limited number of developmental courses for the classroom.
Chenega Advanced Solutions and Intelligence Services, LLC (CASIS) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Chenega Corporation, an Alaska Native Corporation (ANC) headquartered in Anchorage, Alaska. CASIS is an 8(a), ANC-Owned, Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB) headquartered in Sierra Vista, AZ. We are a professional services provider specializing in the delivery of Intelligence Operations and Cyber Support Services to the Department of Defense (DoD) and other USG agencies. CASIS is part of Chenega MIOS SBU, which operates a leveraged services model to increase depth and scalability of support staff while reducing costs to customers.
Responsibilities
Facilitate student matriculation in the following outcomes: completion of associate baccalaureate programs; transfers to other colleges or universities.
Develop and provide, on behalf of Haskell Indian Nations University, the following documents in compliance with university guidelines: course syllabi; assessment and evaluative instruments and derived data; textbook selection and educational materials for those classes taught.
Implement curriculum and assist in updating curricula to ensure student learning meets national, state, and local requirements.
Access software applications/programs to report data for all courses taught with respect to learning outcomes, assessment outcomes, and recommendations for instructional improvement.
Hold one (1) office hour per 3 credit hour course per week to answer students’ questions and assist students in successfully completing courses offered.
Submit grades on forms provided by the university before 4:00 pm to the Office of the Vice-President for Academics (grades are due on the Tuesday after finals week).
Attend university-wide and departmental meetings such as accreditation, assessment, orientation for new faculty, etc., as reasonably expected.
Administer and return End of the Course Student Evaluations to the respective Dean and adhere to accreditation requirements for Haskell Indian Nations University in areas including academic policies and other academic requirements.
Public speaking is an introductory class in rhetoric and public address, emphasizing the practical demonstration of public communication skills, including topic selection and audience adaptation, research, message organization, effective delivery, incorporation of technology and multimedia, apprehension reduction, and informative and persuasive speaking strategies.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualified instructors will hold a minimum of a Master’s, a terminal degree, or an appropriate graduate degree in the subject matter being taught — EXCEPT for Indigenous languages.
