This is a 1,000‑hour per year part‑time assistant coach in a NCAA Division III men’s soccer program. No benefits are offered.

Essential Functions

Understand and comply with NCAA Division III, conference, and university rules and regulations and demonstrate sportsmanship and ethical conduct.

Show sensitivity to individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds and commit to a diverse community.

Implement and execute a comprehensive recruiting plan for identifying and recruiting qualified student‑athletes and maintain an acceptable roster.

Demonstrate a scheduling philosophy that emphasizes academic priorities for student‑athletes.

Develop and implement practice and competition plans that result in athletics success.

Mentor student‑athletes to ensure athletics and academic success.

Schedule competition and arrange transportation and lodging for team travel.

Administer a fiscally sound athletics program.

Evaluate program effectiveness.

Monitor students’ academic progression.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Men’s Soccer Coach or Director of Athletics.

Skills & Abilities
Education: High‑school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree highly preferred.

Experience: Competitive soccer playing experience highly desirable; 1‑3 years of coaching experience preferred; must maintain first‑aid/CPR/AED certification during appointment.

Communication/Language: Basic reading, listening, and writing of simple instructions and correspondence.

Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, Google Apps, and other programs as required.

Certificates, Licenses & Registrations: Valid U.S. driver’s license; first‑aid/CPR/AED certification required at first date of appointment and maintained throughout.

Other Requirements

Excellent communication skills.

Commitment and history of mentoring students and experience with young adults.

Desire to work in a rural, small‑school environment devoted to liberal arts education and community building.

Physical Demands
Stand, walk, sit, speak frequently; lift/carry light weights occasionally; push/pull weights occasionally. No requirements over 55 lbs; activities involve occasional climbing, crawling, kneeling, bending.

Work Environment
During the 18‑30 week playing and practice season, the coach will stand/walk/sit 3‑6 hrs per day at practice. Outside season, 5 hrs per day sitting, remaining time walking/standing and managing business. Coaching occurs in traditional office and athletic facilities; temperature and weather can vary.
