Responsibilities
Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine individual treatment needs, utilizing clinical counseling techniques and medical terminology.
Deliver evidence-based addiction counseling, including behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and motivational interviewing to support recovery efforts.
Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions focused on substance use disorder.
Implement crisis intervention strategies to manage acute situations effectively, ensuring patient safety and stability.
Maintain accurate medical records, documentation compliant with HIPAA regulations, and detailed clinical notes using appropriate CPT coding for billing purposes.
Qualifications
Valid licensure as a Drug & Alcohol Counselor (e.g., CADC, LCADC, ADT) with current certification demonstrating compliance with state licensing boards in Maryland.
Proven experience in addiction counseling, mental health counseling or clinical social work within healthcare or community settings.
Expertise in psychotherapy modalities such as behavioral therapy, applied behavior analysis (ABA), crisis management, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
Familiarity with medical terminology related to mental health disorders, substance use disorders, PTSD care, and behavioral health conditions.
Excellent communication skills for intake assessments, patient education, and collaboration with healthcare teams.
Ability to handle crisis situations with professionalism and empathy while maintaining compliance with HIPAA privacy standards.
