Mission:
Coordinate, develop and implement health & safety and accident prevention programs to reduce or eliminate occupational accidents, injuries.
Responsibilities:
Conduct daily analyses of accident causes as well as identify hazards
Conduct training, annual KYOSHA/OSHA required training safety and accident prevention programs
Administer, coordinate, and train all Health & Safety related items and permits as required to comply with local, state and federal regulations. Update documents and training to remain current with latest requirements/legislation.
Coordinate with Human Resource Manager Administration of Workers Compensation safety programs, authorization of injury treatment as needed. Monitor all accident investigations.
Responsible for safety manual. Train employees on all necessary Health & Safety programs, assist and participate in the development of orientation of new hires in the area of Health & Safety. Coordinate and facilitate meetings and activities of the Safety committee.
Provide meaningful statistics to management in a timely manner, to assist in continued improvement of workplace health, safety and loss control.
Ensure external and internal complaints related to health or safety are recorded and reported to management.
Communicate with all department managers on design and use of equipment, shops, fire prevention and safety programs
Meet with department managers to determine Health & Safety training needs and to ensure successful programs
Inspect the organization’s facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards; recommend corrective or preventive measures where appropriate
Participate in or supervise the investigation and completion of accidents and injuries reported
Keep managers and employees alerted as to the hazards of working with toxic fumes, dangerous chemicals and any other hazardous substances
Coordinate training programs, including CPR, PPE, Emergency Evacuation, and first aid employee safety committees, or media that will increase proficiency in safe practices and promote safety consciousness
Prepare and arrange health/safety fair
Maintain safety files and records
Must be available to communicate with employees, supervisors, managers, subordinates at all times
Responsible for providing timely, appropriate responses to requests, suggestions, complaints, or refer such comments to the appropriate person regarding Health & Safety
Must communicate information to all managers and state problems or challenges to be resolved
Work closely with all department managers and any additional responsibilities deemed necessary by management, other duties as assigned
Ensure and maintain Environmental and ISO 14001 Compliance and Audits.
Conduct and manage all Environmental, Safety, and Health inspections.
Follow all company process cards and procedures.
Advise department manager of situations that may pose a significant risk to employee Health and safety.
Initiate an action plan to prevent the occurrence of any violations, nonconformance relating to health & safety.
Identify and record any problems relating to Health & Safety, initiate, recommend or provide solutions through appropriate channels and verify implementation.
What we are looking for:
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Health and Safety preferred
3-5 years experience in safety program development or with occupational safety health or related field
Able to maintain confidential information
Excellent communication, organization and employee relation skills
8D Problem Solving, TS16949 and Continuous Improvement
Good customer service skills and be proficient computer knowledge in MS Office
Ability to sit, stand and have mobility to move around the office or manufacturing environment, when needed
Ability to conduct computer work or engage in discussion with employees
