California’s Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) brings together the state’s recycling and waste management programs to move the state towards a circular economy that reduces waste and reuses all materials. CalRecycle’s mission is to protect California’s environment and climate for the health and prosperity of future generations through the reduction, reuse, and recycling of California resources, environmental education, disaster recovery and the transition from a disposable to a fully circular economy.
Job Description and Duties
Deliver CalRecycle’s vision by field work, providing technical assistance to local governments, education agencies, and other entities.
Assist local and regional jurisdictions in achieving statutorily mandated waste diversion goals and increase public participation in waste reduction, recycling, composting, and edible food recovery.
Participate in collaborative teams focused on high-priority initiatives.
Conduct research, analysis, report writing, and correspondence.
Travel throughout California approximately 20% of the time.
Work independently and as part of a team; telework is the primary work setting.
Qualifications
Valid California Driver's License (CDL) required.
Must meet the Minimum Qualifications listed in the Classification Specification(s).
Eligibility and Application Notes
Eligible applicants include current classification employees for lateral transfer, reinstatement candidates, and those with list or LEAP eligibility. Candidates with SROA or Surplus eligibility receive priority.
