Basic Job Functions
Assist with the development, maintenance, and implementation of facility specific procedures and programs
Consistent attendance and participation in departmental pre‑shift meetings / toolbox talks
Ensure all necessary testing, record‑keeping, and reporting is completed per OSHA requirements
Conduct safety visits, audits and observations throughout the plant site
Maintain and coordinate the PPE program
Develop, organize, and provide safety training
Maintain the Divisions' BMS system
Attend and participate in company safety meetings
Compile, review and report injury/illness statistics
Implementation and management of facility’s radiation program
Develop, coordinate, and conduct division safety activities and initiatives in alignment with Nucor’s goal to become the world's safest steel company
Communicate key safety information and KPIs to the leadership team
This position must positively and effectively interact with the entire team to promote a culture of safety and achieve an injury‑free workplace. Must be willing to work required hours and to be on‑call in emergency situations. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
