Math, Engineering, and Science Academy (MESA) Charter High School is a community high school in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Established in August 2013, MESA serves 498 students in grades 9‑12 and maintains a 94% graduation rate. The school draws students from more than forty middle schools, including traditional public, parochial, and charter schools. MESA values academic excellence, equity, and student empowerment.

Job Responsibilities

Design and teach five periods each day, including two prep periods.

Utilize Universal Design for Learning to plan instruction for all learners.

Build strong relationships with all students to promote engagement and motivation.

Attend and facilitate team meetings, professional development, and common planning times.

Communicate regularly with caregivers, making a minimum of two positive contacts per week.

Hold office hours before or after school at least once per week for extra support or reassessment.

Teach one week of an Intersession enrichment program based on teacher interest.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Qualifications
(1) Minimum bachelor’s degree in subject area to be taught; Master’s preferred. (2) Preferred minimum of three years teaching experience in an urban public or charter school setting; Chemistry, Environmental Science, and/or Computer Science experience preferred. (3) Proven track‑record of high achievement in the classroom and commitment to accountability. (4) Belief in and alignment with MESA’s core values, educational philosophy, and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. (5) Valid New York State Certification strongly preferred. (6) Spanish speakers are a strong plus.

Salary
$60,000 - $100,000 based on experience.
