Schedule
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 6:00am – 4:30pm.
Tuesday: 6:00am – 1:00pm.
Friday: 6:00am – 9:00am.
Location 1 – 6:00am – 9:00am at Poplar Springs Hospital (Petersburg VA 23805, Monday–Friday).
Location 2 – doctor’s office on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday after 9:00am (Petersburg VA 23805).
Responsibilities
Perform blood draws, urine, and fecal specimen collections, explaining the process courteously.
Label, centrifuge, split, freeze, and package specimens according to orders and protocols.
Verify that all test requisitions and computer labels match scripted orders (100% accuracy).
Store specimens at required temperatures and in appropriate containers to maintain integrity.
Maintain patient data and update system records.
Follow OSHA and DEP regulations and departmental protocols.
Attend annual department trainings.
Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Qualifications
Valid phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
Minimum 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced lab or hospital setting.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
High‑school diploma or GED.
