Job Title: Network Engineering Project Manager and Documentation Engineer
Reports To: Kevin Hunt
Job Summary:
The Network Engineering Project Manager & Documentation Engineer is responsible for overseeing network infrastructure projects with a focus on facilities (DC plant and environmental systems), vendor coordination, and documentation integrity. This role combines project management, quality control, and technical documentation, ensuring accurate network records and successful deployment of network assets.
Manage and oversee network engineering projects, with emphasis on DC plant infrastructure and environmental systems (power, cooling, rack space, etc.)
Perform project management (PM) and quality control (QC) for network facility builds and upgrades
Select, coordinate, and manage subcontractors and vendors responsible for construction, installation, and related work
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and meet quality standards
Oversee and maintain network asset documentation, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and completeness across systems
Establish and enforce documentation standards and best practices
Coordinate with internal teams, including the AI/data team, to:
Define and maintain a source of truth for all network elements
Assist in building and managing access to systems that store network data
Support Network Operations Center (NOC) activities, including:
Assisting with NOC design, including alerts levels, alert pathing, etc...
Developing and delivering training for NOC staff
Perform other duties as assigned that support construction operations and leadership objectives.
Job Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in network engineering, telecommunications, or infrastructure project management
Strong understanding of:
Power systems, HVAC, and environmental controls
Network infrastructure and asset tracking
Proven ability to manage vendors and subcontractors
Experience with technical documentation systems and asset management tools
Strong organizational, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field preferred.
PMP or similar project management certification
Experience working with network inventory systems or GIS platforms
Familiarity with automation, data systems, or AI-driven infrastructure tools
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Strong attention to detail, especially in documentation and QC processes
Willingness to travel up to 20% as required
Skills:
Strong knowledge of fiber network design, OSP construction practices, and engineering drawings
Proven experience in project planning, coordination, and operational monitoring
Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and complex problem-solving abilities
Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, and team management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication, documentation, and active listening skills
Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in fast-paced environments
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively
High attention to detail with a focus on quality control and process adherence
Proficiency with Google Workspace or similar project management and reporting tools
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and take ownership of outcomes
High level of professionalism, discretion, and accountability
Ability to anticipate leadership needs and proactively resolve issues
Work Schedule:
Full-time position, typically Monday through Friday
Standard hours are generally 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, though schedules may vary based on business needs
Occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends may be required to support operational demands, special projects, or peak periods
Flexibility is required to support departmental needs, including high-volume or critical service periods
Work arrangement may be remote, in-office, or hybrid depending on role requirements and department assignment
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
