Overview
Prime Video Personalization and Discovery (PVPD) is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to lead the customer experiences around AI-powered content discovery.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop and maintain AI based recommendation systems services that drive personalized experiences across Prime Video.
Build distributed systems to manage high-volume, low-latency AI powered customer experiences.
Develop tooling and automation to improve the efficiency, visibility, and reliability of recommendation systems.
Collaborate cross-functionally with applied scientists, product management, and other software development teams to continuously enhance the Prime Video discovery and personalization experiences.
Mentor new team‑mates about the software, its construction, testing, operation, and integration into the broader system.
Focus on operational excellence, identifying problems, proposing solutions, and improving the team’s software for better maintainability.
Champion best practices around software engineering, including designing, testing, and monitoring.
Day in the Life
Your day begins with team standup meetings, where you help prioritize work streams and unblock critical issues. Some days involve hands‑on development—writing and reviewing code—while others consist of technical leadership responsibilities, authoring design documents, or weighing in on teammates’ approaches.
Throughout the day you mentor junior engineers, collaborate with product managers to translate business requirements into technical solutions, and drive discussions with cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment on architectural decisions.
You maintain and improve personalization infrastructure’s reliability and performance, troubleshoot complex production issues, and implement monitoring and alerting systems.

Basic Qualifications
5+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience
5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language
5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems
Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
Location & Compensation
USA, NY, New York – $184,900.00 – $250,200.00 USD annually.
Base salary range is listed above. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
