Adjunct, Veterinary Assistant Program
Position Summary
This position supports the Veterinary Assistant Training program under the Continuing Education and Workforce Development Healthcare Careers Department. The adjunct instructor prepares students for work as a veterinary assistant through the development of engaging lectures and interactive classroom labs following essential curriculum standards outlined by the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop engaging lectures following NAVTA essential skills checklist
Prepare interactive labs for students to practice concepts
Create both written and skills assessments to measure competency
Prepare students for their 100-hour clinical externship
Participate in appropriate professional development activities to assure currency in both discipline, knowledge and instructional methods
Required Minimum Qualifications
Must hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine license or Veterinary Technician certification
Ability to develop course curriculum based on NAVTA guidelines and textbook, including PowerPoint presentations
Excellent public speaking and interpersonal communication skills
Desired Qualifications
Previous experience teaching or in corporate/staff training
Experience using Blackboard learning management system
Associates degree or above
