
Special Security Programs Manager

Job Summary
This role assists the Chief, Security Officer, Special Security & Counter-Intelligence Oversight in managing an effective Special Security program for all GT. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations. Interact with both internal and external customers who are, but not limited to; engineers, scientists, administrative support, laboratory management, senior GT and Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) management, government security managers, government program managers and vendors. Provides advice, counsels, and/or instructs pertinent GT/GTRI personnel on security and administrative regulations, policies, and concerns. Consults with supervisors and training specialists from other DOD and federal agencies on the training needs of an individual working with SCI/SAP information and makes necessary provisions for such development and training. Coordinates with support entities and laboratories to collaborate on work-related changes that may affect their support or operations. Assists the Chief Security Officer, Special Security & Counter-Intelligence Oversight in order to provide senior GT/GTRI management the best possible advice on how to manage/support an effective Special Security program.
Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 - Establish and maintain SCI/SAP Personnel Security, Physical Security, Operations Security, Communications Security, Industrial Security programs and assists in Computer Security.
Job Duty 2 - Coordinate and communicate with lab management and support functions; foster trust, mutual respect, and collegiality within the laboratory.
Job Duty 3 - Perform strategic and daily management/administration of laboratory security program.
Job Duty 4 - Establish an effective security education program consistent across all laboratories.
Job Duty 5 - Provide internal security professionals training to perform their respective duties and responsibilities.
Job Duty 6 - Ensure lab conducts self-inspections consistent with government requirements.
Job Duty 7 - Maintain an effective visitor control program.
Job Duty 8 - Develop and maintain Special Security budget for Laboratory.
Job Duty 9 - Maintain accurate and current documentation of approved standard operating procedures.
Job Duty 10 - Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Business, Social Sciences or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other Required Qualifications: Experience with either a government agency or contractor organization.
Required Experience: Ten to twelve years of job related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience: Some experience in a university environment.
Minimum 10-15 years demonstrated security management experience, with at least 8+ years in SAP and SCI programs.
Previous hands‑on experience with SAPF and SCIF accreditation processes.
Expertise in NISPOM, DoDM 5205.07 Vol 1-4, ICD 704/705, and other relevant policy directives.
Active TS/SCI clearance (with willingness to submit to and maintain a polygraph and SAP eligibility).
Proficiency with security databases and software systems (SIMS, DISS, JADE, Scattered Castles, Microsoft Office).
Proven leadership, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Must be familiar with the following computer/database products: Security Information Management System (SIMS), Air Force Access Database System (AFADS) and its variants, Army Contractor Access Verification System (ACAVS), Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS), Microsoft (MS) operating systems, MS office suites, Linux and Solaris operating systems.

This is a supervisory position. This position does not have any financial responsibilities. This position will be required to drive. This role is not considered a position of trust. This position does not require a purchasing card (P-Card). This position will not travel. This position requires a security clearance. This position is located in Atlanta, GA. Salary Job Grade A10. Recruiting Range: $74,966-$101,955 based on experience.
