JET Technologies, a multi-faceted corporation focused on plastic CNC fabrication and Thermoforming/Vacuum Forming, located in Elkhart, IN has an immediate need to fill an open position for a Purchasing/Sourcing individual.
General Job Description
This person reports directly to the Purchasing Manager and is responsible for the day-to-day procurement and inventory coordination tasks. The Sourcing position will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and developing vendor relationships for a wide array of materials and components, including plastics, hardware, electronics, graphics, lighting, seals, and adhesives. This individual will play a critical role in maintaining cost efficiency, ensuring product quality, and supporting the company’s strategic sourcing initiatives.
Additional responsibilities include reviewing material needs, issuing and managing purchase orders, coordinating with vendors, overseeing receiving activities, managing the purchasing mailbox, and supporting cycle counting and inventory control.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Sourcing
Vendor Sourcing & Development
Identify and qualify new suppliers for raw materials and finished components, both domestically and internationally.
Source products in categories including plastics, fasteners, hardware, electronics, lighting, adhesives, gaskets, and graphics.
Negotiation & Contract Management
Negotiate pricing, volume discounts, payment terms, and supply agreements.
Develop supplier programs to maximize value, including cost savings, lead time reductions, and quality improvements.
Vendor Program Optimization
Review and analyze current vendor performance and pricing programs.
Renegotiate or restructure agreements to drive continuous improvement in pricing, quality, and reliability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to align sourcing strategies with product requirements.
Collaborate with purchasing and inventory teams to ensure supply chain continuity and efficiency.
Cost Control & Reporting
Monitor market trends, pricing movements, and availability of key materials.
Prepare cost analysis reports and sourcing strategy proposals for management.
Purchasing and Other Minor Duties and Responsibilities
Review material requirements using the Inventory Reorder Report.
Run Material Requirements Planning (MRP) reports to assess current inventory and open orders.
Issue and send accurate Purchase Orders (POs) to vendors based on identified needs.
Communicate with vendors to follow up on rush orders or overdue POs that may impact production.
Maintain alignment with production schedules and mitigate risks of material shortages.
Maintain the purchasing mailbox, including timely responses and follow-ups.
Match order confirmations with corresponding POs and file appropriately.
Conduct spot cycle counts and assist with inventory accuracy checks.
Support monthly inventory reporting and reconciliation.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Purchasing Manager.
Qualifications
Strong experience in sourcing and supplier communication.
Effective negotiation and interpersonal skills.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
Proactive problem-solving ability with a sense of urgency.
Comfortable working cross-functionally with various departments (Production, Sales, Engineering).
