In the role of Commodity Manager, you'll play a pivotal part on our Supply Chain team. The Commodity Manager is responsible for the Commodity Strategy that will be or has been established for assigned commodities in the Branch and will oversee a group of strategic suppliers that constitute the Safran Cabin supply base.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the Commodity Strategy for a defined list of commodities, establishing the strategy with involvement of operating sites and defining sourcing and supplier base strategy.
Report and communicate on a regular basis the strategy progress and outputs at branch and division leadership levels.
Consolidate all data related to the commodity from the sites and stay abreast of innovations and technical evolutions to integrate into supplier management and contractual relationships.
Build planning and KPI assessment related to the strategy and ensure follow‑up of the strategy commodity implementation at the site level.
Serve as the referent externally and internally for commodities, consolidate data related to common strategic suppliers, drive market analysis, outlooks, competition analysis, turnover evolution, and dependency ratios.
Gather and update supplier data; monitor operational performance at each site, including on‑time deliveries, delivery quality, and annual purchasing performance.
Lead with the support of Supplier Development team the risk analysis, follow‑up mitigation plans, and provide a consolidated picture before each performance review.
Prepare and process global RFQ, negotiate LTA and define acceptable terms and conditions with support from Branch Contracts; prepare and obtain approval for global sourcing decisions; obtain contract signatures from legal entities.
Ensure contract provisions are applied and respected by sites; twice per year consolidate forecast volumes and check compliance with allocated volumes.
Lead an annual capacity survey toward suppliers on at least a 12‑month forecast with consolidated volumes for all branch sites; trigger requests on quality, capacity, process audits and dedicated countermeasures.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
At least 8 years of experience in the position of Strategic Buyer or Manager, other Commodity Manager role or related function.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Strong knowledge of the purchasing process and supplier quality assurance.
Deep understanding of the technologies and processes of suppliers in the relevant commodities.
Negotiation skills and ability to adapt.
Good understanding of ERP systems principles.
Basic knowledge of legal management of business relationships in an internal network.
Fluent communication in English; another European language a plus.
Must know the market linked to the commodity and understand its technical and technological aspects; be an expert in the category and act as a resource for less experienced Commodity Managers.
