Salary: $92,000 – $151,800 per year plus benefits
Position Summary
A growing engineering organization is seeking an experienced Mechanical / HVAC Design Engineer with at least 5 years of relevant experience in HVAC/mechanical system design, along with plumbing and fire protection systems for commercial, industrial, and educational facilities. This role involves supporting projects from initial design through construction documentation while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities
Design HVAC systems for commercial, industrial, and educational facilities
Develop hydronic system piping designs, including chilled and hot water systems
Perform ductwork layout and mechanical equipment sizing
Prepare construction documents including drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical details
Interpret and coordinate construction plans, including architectural, structural, and MEP systems
Apply knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems in project execution
Support projects from concept through completion with minimal supervision
Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and project requirements

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education and experience
Minimum 5+ years of experience in HVAC/mechanical system design
Experience designing systems for commercial, industrial, or institutional facilities
Strong understanding of construction documentation and engineering design principles
Proficiency with engineering design and calculation software
Ability to work independently and manage project responsibilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving capabilities

Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineering (PE) license
Experience with AutoCAD or similar design software
Experience working on multi-disciplinary engineering projects

Work Environment
Combination of office and occasional field work
Exposure to outdoor conditions during site visits as needed
Frequent computer-based work
Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds

Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $92,000 – $151,800 per year
