
Student Worker InProcess Quality Control Operator

Summary
The In-Process Quality Control (QC) Operator is responsible for performing in‑process and final quality inspections of solar modules to ensure compliance with internal specifications, customer requirements, and applicable standards. This role includes conducting Electroluminescence (EL) inspections, Solar Simulator testing, Hi‑Pot testing, final EL, and final visual inspection to verify product conformity prior to release.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection and Testing
Perform in-process and final Electroluminescence (EL) inspections to identify cracks, micro‑cracks, soldering defects, cell damage, and other anomalies.
Operate and evaluate results from the Solar Simulator (Sun Sim) to verify electrical performance parameters.
Conduct Hi‑Pot testing to ensure electrical insulation integrity and compliance with safety requirements.
Perform final visual inspections to identify cosmetic, mechanical, labeling, and workmanship defects per work instructions and acceptance criteria.
Verify inspection results against specifications, control plans, and inspection checklists.
Documentation and Records
Accurately record inspection and test results in manufacturing execution systems (MES), inspection logs, or quality records.
Ensure all records are complete, legible, and compliant with ISO documentation and traceability requirements.
Qualifications
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Technical or quality‑related certification is a plus.
Experience
Prior experience in manufacturing quality inspection preferred.
Experience in solar module manufacturing, electronics, or electrical testing is highly desirable.
Skills and Competencies
Ability to read and interpret work instructions, specifications, and quality standards.
Basic understanding of electrical testing principles.
Strong attention to detail and defect recognition skills.
Basic computer skills for data entry and record maintenance.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Training Requirements
On‑the‑job training for EL equipment, Solar Simulator, and Hi‑Pot testers.
Training on applicable quality procedures, control plans, and safety requirements.
Periodic re‑certification or competency verification as defined by the Quality Management System.
Safety and Environmental Responsibilities
Comply with all safety and environmental policies and procedures.
Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses immediately.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with higher-than-normal sound levels.
Ability to stand for long periods during inspections.
Excellent eyesight for detecting defects and deviations.
Ability to lift 35lbs‑40lbs during inspections.
Work Environment
Manufacturing plant setting.
Use of safety equipment (gloves, glasses, safety shoes, etc.) required during material inspection.
