HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) division is the largest industrial employer in Virginia and the sole designer, builder, and refueler of U.S. Navy nuclear aircraft carriers and one of two providers of U.S. Navy nuclear submarines. Our team spans skilled trades, project managers, engineers, software developers, and other technical experts, collaborating to build the most powerful and survivable naval ships.

The Role
Supervises, assigns, coordinates, and evaluates semi‑skilled and skilled trades personnel according to skill, experience, and job knowledge. Provides training to improve quality and quantity of work, recommends training for skill and productivity enhancement, and assists in developing training procedures. Breaks broad strategies into actionable plans and ensures employees are trained to execute them. Ensures compliance with all technical aspects of the job, including adherence to drawings and procedures. Manages manufacturing, installation, operation, testing, and process operations with significant financial impact. Supervises qualified trades staff and monitors job and budget performance for all shifts.

Newport News Shipbuilding offers a $5,000 sign‑on bonus to new Foreman hires eligible under qualifying requisitions. Current employees are also eligible.

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree OR

Apprentice Certification OR

High School and 4 years combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military experience OR

Associate Degree in a Trade/Technical and 3 years of relevant manufacturing, shipbuilding, trade and/or military experience
