R&D Manager
Amnovis BV, Sauk Trail Beach, WI, United States
As R&D Manager, you are the catalyst behind Amnovis’ mission to redefine the state-of-the-art in additive manufacturing. You ensure that innovation is not a separate activity, but embedded in everything we do to unlock the full potential of AM for regulated and high-tech industries. Together with your team of R&D engineers, you shape and execute our R&D roadmap, converting technical challenges into breakthrough opportunities. You combine strategic vision with hands‑on involvement, driving projects that span technologies, materials, and applications. You are the main point of contact for all R&D initiatives internally and externally, building partnerships and translating ideas into tangible impact for customers. Put simply, you are at the core of Amnovis’ DNA of innovation, and you inspire your team to make that vision a reality.
Your Tasks
Define and implement the Amnovis R&D roadmap
Manage the R&D team of three engineers
Set up a standardized R&D project workflow to ensure consistency and efficiency across all projects
Distribute work effectively and ensure timely completion of tasks within the R&D team and yourself
Stay up to date on the latest trends and innovations in additive manufacturing technologies, materials, and applications
Your Responsibilities
Ensure all ongoing and approved projects are executed as planned and that reporting is submitted on time
Own the Amnovis R&D P&L: manage budgets and expenses for ongoing projects and secure future R&D funding by writing new project proposals for subsidized or commercial activities
Build and maintain an Amnovis IP strategy: proactively identify ways to protect know‑how and IP developed by our R&D and engineering teams, negotiate licensing opportunities, and lead or support efforts to commercialize Amnovis‑owned IP
Establish and maintain relationships with research institutes and academia
Your Profile
You hold an MSc in engineering or science and have 4–5 years of relevant experience. Specializations in materials engineering or manufacturing technologies are a plus
You have solid experience with additive manufacturing technologies, preferably metals, and ideally L-PBF
You inspire others with contagious enthusiasm while maintaining a structured, results‑driven approach to R&D
You are experienced in writing project proposals and securing funding. Specific experience with approved projects or reporting for VLAIO, the EU Commission, or ESA is a strong plus
You have experience in building and leading a team, ensuring their efforts create tangible impact aligned with company objectives.
Any experience with patent applications or IP protection processes is considered a strong plus.
You have a commercial mindset and are comfortable presenting Amnovis’ R&D results at conferences or webinars, and you are motivated to interact directly with customers
You have professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken
You can seamlessly switch between hands‑on operational tasks and strategic thinking
You have a no‑nonsense entrepreneurial mindset
