Job Description
This role serves as the site Construction Quality Coordinator for hydro modernization projects and may be filled at either the QCA2 or QCA3 level depending on experience. The position supports multiple hydro sites, ensuring that all construction activities meet specified quality standards, applicable codes, and project requirements. The Quality Coordinator travels regularly between assigned sites to oversee contractor performance, implement quality plans, and provide technical guidance on welding, coatings, and related construction quality activities.

Responsibilities

Assist project management in developing and implementing comprehensive project quality plans for hydro modernization projects.

Provide oversight of onsite contractors to ensure all work complies with engineering specifications, drawings, and applicable standards.

Assist with the development, documentation, and maintenance of site‑specific quality procedures, guidelines, and processes.

Develop and maintain surveillance schedules to monitor construction activities and verify adherence to quality requirements.

Perform regular quality surveillances and inspections to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project quality plans.

Review inspection and test plans and monitor contractor adherence to these plans throughout the project lifecycle.

Support construction teams with required preventive maintenance activities related to quality and reliability of installed systems.

Participate in pre‑bid, pre‑mobilization, and other contractor meetings to communicate and clarify project quality requirements.

Assist project and construction management with managing overall project quality, identifying issues, and driving corrective actions.

Perform weld inspections and mapping as required to verify weld quality and documentation accuracy.

Review and evaluate quality‑related documentation, including inspection test plans and records, to ensure completeness and accuracy.

Apply knowledge of hold points and witness points to ensure critical activities receive appropriate quality oversight.

Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and standards to verify correct implementation in the field.

Collaborate effectively with project teams while also working independently when required to meet quality objectives.

Travel between multiple job sites to provide consistent quality oversight and support across all assigned locations.

Essential Skills

10+ years of experience in quality oversight of onsite contractors ensuring work is performed to specifications and standards, or a 4‑year degree in a related field.

CWI/AWS certification.

Experience in construction inspection and contractor oversight.

Experience supporting preventive maintenance in a construction or industrial environment.

Hands‑on experience with weld inspection and weld mapping.

Ability to perform quality surveillances of work performed onsite.

Proficiency in reviewing inspection and test plans and other quality‑related documentation.

Familiarity with hold points and witness points in construction quality control.

Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including AWS, ANSI, ASTM, ACI, and related standards to ensure compliance with specified requirements.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and standards.

Strong project management awareness and ability to support quality aspects of project execution.

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

Ability to function effectively in a team environment and work independently as needed.

Self‑starter with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving quality issues.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

AMPP/NACE certification is a plus.

Familiarity with battery energy storage systems (BESS) is a plus.

Familiarity with solar construction is a plus.

Experience working across multiple construction sites or large capital projects is beneficial.

Strong organizational skills to manage surveillance schedules and documentation across several locations.

Work Environment
The role is field‑based and supports multiple construction sites within Georgia. One position is based in the Macon, GA area to support projects in Wadley, Warner Robins, Dublin, and Albany, GA job sites. Another position is based in the Marietta, GA area to support projects in Cartersville, Newnan, Gainesville, and Rome, GA. The position requires frequent travel between these sites as needed to provide quality oversight and support. Work is primarily performed on active construction sites, requiring regular presence in the field and close coordination with project and construction teams. The standard work schedule is mostly day shifts, Monday through Friday, with some overtime at various times and on various days as required at management’s discretion. The environment involves typical construction site conditions, including outdoor work, exposure to varying weather conditions, and the use of standard safety equipment and personal protective equipment as required by site policies.

Contract position based out of Columbus, GA.

Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
