
Shipping Associate Weekend Shift

Job Summary
Work as part of a team and/or independently to transport finished products from production lines to shipping racks. Transport returned items from trucks to appropriate production lines, scan each window/door, note and report gaps in production, and perform light packaging duties.
Essential Functions
Review production‑line output and observe completed carts (loaded with finished windows/doors).
Retrieve loaded carts from the production staging area (alone or with assistance, determined by load size).
Move loaded cart to shipping racks.
Match production tag/paperwork to the appropriate rack/slot.
Use hand‑held RF scanner to scan bar code on each window/door.
Lift product from cart and place product in the appropriate slot on the rack. Repeat process until cart is loaded.
Return empty cart to open area.
Transport returned items to the appropriate production line.
Assemble cardboard corner‑caps for packaging.
Apply protective blocks and wrapping to specific window profiles.
Package garden windows.
Other Functions
Assist in other shipping positions as required.
Continuously perform quality control tasks: visually inspect PVC and glass for imperfections and place rejects in a specified area per training.
Sweep, wipe surfaces, empty waste/recycling containers and/or clean work area as needed throughout the shift.
Qualifications
Experience:
Previous warehouse experience in manufacturing/production preferred.
Knowledge:
Ability to read, write and speak simple English as appropriate to a manufacturing environment. Must be able to read production tags, paperwork and safety warning labels, and verbally communicate with coworkers, leads and supervisors regarding the production process and safety information. Ability to perform basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Ability to read a tape measure to the 1/16 inch. Ability to follow written, oral or diagrammed instructions and solve problems involving multiple variables.
Ability to become familiar with the Shipping department’s positions and procedures, deal effectively with co‑workers and supervisors, multi‑task job duties, prioritize work tasks, perceive scratches or irregularities in materials, meet quality standards and contribute to a safe and drug‑free workplace.
Mental/Physical/Visual Demands:
Must possess common sense, a positive attitude, excellent attendance, work under stress and meet safety consciousness. Must lift 5 to 75 pounds, carry up to 25 pounds short distances, and perform repeated lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, reaching, operating a forklift and working at heights.
Working Conditions:
Manufacturing environment: open plant, cement floors, stationary machinery, moving equipment, exposure to various chemicals, solvents, glass and vinyl dust.
Equipment/Tools Used:
Carts, paperwork, pens/pencils, radio, barcode scanner, computer terminal, chop saw, forklift and required personal protective equipment.
Safety:
Safe work performance is required from each associate at all times. Perform all duties in a safe manner per Health and Safety manuals. Wear or use personal protective equipment as required and report unsafe conditions.
