Commercial/Industrial Electrical Estimators (Contract Estimators welcome)
The future looks very bright at VERSYS (Verified Systems) as we prepare for a very busy year, with more to come. In order to maintain our 5‑star standard we need a highly skilled and experienced Commercial/Industrial Electrical Estimator to join our team.
As a strong Electrical Estimator reporting to the Estimating Manager, you will be responsible for generating accurate and timely cost estimates for assigned projects, delivering properly organized estimates, budgets and schedules, and managing risk.
Responsibilities
Analyze documents, specifications, proposals, and addendums in preparation for pricing.
Prepare bid packages for subcontracted scopes of work, and coordinate with subcontractors through the bidding process.
Perform estimation work related to oral and/or written communications with clients.
Review project sites prior to price preparation.
Obtain input from Operations staff as appropriate.
Perform quantity take‑off from construction drawings where applicable.
Prepare bid packages for suppliers, and coordinate with the Purchasing department and suppliers through the bidding process.
Formulate costs for tender submission, including labor, equipment, material, rentals and subcontract elements.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of tender submissions.
Assist Project Management teams with pricing for scope changes as required.
Maintain files and correspondence on active and completed projects.
Provide technical support to field staff.
Collaborate with Operations to drive project success and learning.
Drive estimating process, procedure compliance and consistency.
Complete post‑bid/post‑project analysis and ensure associated learning and communication take place.
Assist with RFPs and general contract tender submissions.
Assist with prequalification submissions, RFQs and RFIs as required.
Incorporate and comply with Versys risk management policies and procedures.
Build and maintain positive relationships as the key contact with clients, consultants and key subcontractors.
Protect all proprietary information.
Assist in the development and/or training of new estimating staff as appropriate.
Collect data and report on established business key performance indicators.
Qualifications and Skills
Electrical commercial/industrial construction experience (Gas Compression, Petrochemical, Mining, wastewater/water and Data Center environment is an asset).
Electrical diploma or degree in construction.
Electrical journeyman license.
Prior estimating experience of 3–5 years required.
Experience with estimating software for 3–5 years.
Experience as a project coordinator on electrical projects is considered an asset.
Ability to read and understand construction drawings and contract documents.
Good knowledge of job cost fundamentals and basic accounting/reporting principles is an asset.
Self‑motivated with excellent organizational skills.
Strong computer skills – MS Excel, Word and experience with estimating software (Accubid, Rs Meins).
Working knowledge of regional electrical codes.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work accurately and effectively under pressure.
Adaptability to a flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.
Team‑oriented work style.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required.
Thorough knowledge of contract language, terms and conditions, bonding, etc. is an asset.
