1:1 Autism Support Worker – 00/Irvine/CR 06/04/2026 Personal Employer Irvine
• 1:1 Autism Support Worker – Part‑time, 10 hours min per week
• Work location: In person / community‑based
• Working pattern: Flexi‑time to meet individual support needs
• Rate of pay £14.59 per hour
Role Purpose
To deliver high‑quality, person‑centered 1:1 support to an autistic adult, enabling them to live a fulfilling, active, and inclusive life. The role focuses on day‑to‑day activities such as cooking and building trusting relationships, promoting independence, supporting participation in activities at home and in the community, and facilitating access to social, wellbeing, and lifestyle opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Person‑Centered 1:1 Support:
Provide consistent, tailored support to one individual at a time based on their personal goals, interests, and needs. Promote independence and decision‑making. Adapt communication style and approaches to suit the individual.
Community Inclusion & Social Participation:
Support the individual to access social events, community facilities, groups, and activities. Encourage engagement with peers and the wider community. Assist with planning and participating in outings and experiences.
Active Lifestyle & Wellbeing:
Promote an active lifestyle through suitable physical and wellbeing activities. Encourage healthy routines and habits.
Relationship‑Building & Communication:
Develop and maintain a trusting, respectful, supportive 1:1 relationship. Communicate clearly and sensitively.
Problem Solving & Coaching:
Respond calmly to challenges and support the individual to develop problem‑solving strategies.
Professional Conduct & Compliance:
Participate in autism awareness training and ongoing CPD. Follow safeguarding, confidentiality and health & safety procedures. Maintain accurate records. PGV clearance required.
Person Specification
Previous experience working directly with autistic adults.
Essential Skills & Qualities
Strong communication and listening skills
Ability to build trusting relationships
Patient, reliable, positive, and passionate
Strong problem‑solving ability
Ability to work independently
Essential Requirements
Full driving licence
Autism awareness and willingness for continued professional development
