Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum): $25.150 - $28.950 - $32.420

Union and Employment Information
This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU‑UHW. Employees in this role must join the union within 31 days of hire and remain a member for the duration of the agreement. The position was originally posted to ratified SEIU members from 4/15/26 – 4/22/26 and is now available to internal candidates who are not members of the ratified Bargaining Unit as well as external candidates to Sharp.

What You Will Do
Collaborates with the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) in the delivery of quality patient/resident care under the direction of a licensed nurse. Delivers care with consideration to age‑specific needs and contributes to overall unit functions.

Required Qualifications

Completion of an approved nursing assistant course

California Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) – CA Department of Public Health (required)

AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professionals (BLS) – American Heart Association (required)

Preferred Qualifications

1 year of recent experience in a geriatric setting or an acute care hospital

Other Qualification Requirements

Current certification as Nursing Assistant for long‑term care and skilled nursing required; rehabilitation preferred

Essential Functions

Admissions, discharge and transfer responsibilities – ensure complete room set‑up for new admission, greet new patient/resident and family members, orient patient/resident and family to the facility, inventory patient belongings, coordinate transfer and discharge processes, and prepare rooms for next admission.

Assures availability of patient equipment and supplies – checks, cleans equipment, provides assistive devices, follows up on requests, uses supplies cost‑effectively, and manages supply usage in compliance with corporate policy.

Completes delegated tasks within scope of practice – seeks individualized patient information, clarifies expectations with the licensed nurse, agrees on time frames, reports if unable to complete tasks, and participates in care plan implementation.

Department support – performs routine tasks such as hygiene and positioning, maintains privacy and confidentiality, and demonstrates competency skills.

Patient care activities – documents care accurately, reports changes in patient condition, responds to life‑threatening situations, communicates asks outside of scope of practice, and informs the licensed nurse about incomplete work.

Regulatory compliance – labels/stores patient belongings, follows universal precautions and infection control policies, uses proper body mechanics, identifies patients at risk for injury, and manages restraint policies.

Safety – employs proper body mechanics, reports personal injuries within two hours, completes the ART and state claim forms, follows equipment safety procedures, and reports hazardous or unsafe practices.

Time management – prioritizes workload, validates understanding of new patient needs, collaborates with other staff, seeks assistance when required, and reports to the licensed nurse or supervisor when unable to meet demands.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Effective interpersonal skills.

Ability to perform all baseline resident/patient care skills under guidance of a licensed nurse.

Fluent in written and spoken English.
