Dialysis Patient Care Technician

As a Patient Care Technician (PCT) at US Renal Care, you will be an integral part of a cross-functional team providing care and delegated activities of treatment to patients. The PCT will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Charge Nurse (CN) for patients with renal failure.

Responsibilities

Provide patient care during dialysis treatment: gather patient stats before and after treatment, monitor patients, terminate treatment, and collect blood samples per physician orders.

Prepare hemodialysis machines, clean and disinfect after treatment, perform machine safety checks, and log results for quality control while ensuring all protocols and regulations are followed.

Use appropriate safety measures, including personal protective equipment, and adhere to company policies, procedures, and state and federal laws. Participate in all required staff meetings and continuing education offerings.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.

Desire to work in healthcare and care for patients.

Previous healthcare experience in dialysis, phlebotomy, or as a CNA is a plus.

Must be comfortable mixing acids and bicarbonate according to protocol.

Ability to distinguish all primary colors.

Successful completion of the USRC training program in the theory and practice of hemodialysis within 8 weeks of hire.

CPR certification required within 90 days of hire or as required by state.

Patient Care Technician certification must be obtained through a state or national certification program within 18 months of hire and must be maintained in good standing thereafter.
