Job Description
Be a part of a world‑class academic healthcare system, University of Chicago Medicine, as an Occupational Therapy Acute Care Fellow. The University of Chicago Medical Center recognizes that therapists with specialized, advanced skills are essential to fulfill our mission of excellence in patient care, education and research. Our facility is proud to partner with the American Occupational Therapy Association in offering an adult, acute care fellowship for occupational therapy. We are seeking one full-time candidate for an inpatient acute care position, our 14th class to begin August 2026. Responsibilities include direct patient care, structured didactic and mentoring activities within a 53‑week employment agreement. Successful completion of the fellowship program requires self‑directed initiative and study outside of defined working hours to accomplish all required tasks. New graduates are welcome. The deadline for a complete application is April 1, 2026.

Required Qualifications
Graduation from an approved occupational therapy school.
Entry‑level degree as required by licensing standard (post‑baccalaureate, master’s, or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy).
CPR Certification.
Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care which is age‑specific/appropriate for the types of patients served.
Basic computer knowledge/skills needed for patient care, advancing education, and research applications.
Appropriate interpersonal skills to enable positive interactions with patients/families, the multidisciplinary faculty, and external contacts.
The willingness and acknowledgement that participation in the fellowship will take self‑directed initiatives and study outside of the defined work schedule to accomplish all required tasks.
Preferred exposure to acute care in previous clinical or work experiences.
Licenses/Certifications
Current occupational therapy license in the State of Illinois.
CPR Certification.
