Overview
Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant

– The Children\'s Center Utah has an opening for an Early Childhood Consultant who will work and travel throughout Utah County. This position provides early childhood mental health consultation services to childcare and other early childhood programs throughout this region.

Responsibilities

Conduct early childhood program-focused consultation to support the healthy social and emotional development of young children, caregivers, parents, and educators.

Provide on-site support for children in early childhood programs.

Teach workshops and support early childhood professionals on social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health topics related to their work with young children.

Keep accurate records of activities, record data in approved formats, and generate reports as needed.

Participate fully in department and agency meetings, professional development activities, and community outreach as assigned.

Pilot the development and implementation of a positive guidance policy in programs receiving programmatic consultation services.

The Successful Candidate

You have a growth mind-set and are committed to supporting the life-long learning process of adults. You envision improving the lives of children in childcare and the adults who care for them, and you want to learn more about early childhood mental health and consultation to identify effective strategies and models that can be replicated in our state.

You are a skilled communicator with excellent written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills. You are comfortable interacting with people of all ages, ethnicities, races, abilities, and economic and educational levels.

You have a passion that motivates your work and the work of those around you. You are an advocate for young children and those who care for them, and you welcome participating in systems and collective impact work.

Requirements

Bachelor\'s degree or higher in child or human development, early childhood education, psychology (or a closely related field).

Extensive experience with young children in group care and education.

Knowledge of social, emotional, and behavioral development of young children.

Desire to become more specialized in early childhood mental health consultation.

Ability to become proficient with Microsoft Office.

Must have own reliable transportation to get to and from childcare programs.

Early childhood coaching experience and training preferred.

Ability to obtain an Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Endorsement.

Bilingual/bicultural — English/Spanish candidates desired.

Compensation
$44,000 starting
