Position Summary
Full-time position, scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. This position assists clinicians and nursing staff in providing medical care, and implements and evaluates direct patient care to deliver an excellent patient experience. Responsibilities include vitals, EKGs, medication prior authorizations, maintenance of exam rooms, and chart preparation for appointments.

Core Functions

Prepares patient for exam and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms, and other necessary measurements and recording chief complaint; documents pain scores as appropriate. Reports any changes in patient condition to the clinician.

Assists providers with exams and minor in‑office procedures such as taking blood pressure, documenting respiration and heart rate/pulse, taking temperature, performing phlebotomies, ear irrigation, and EKGs. Acts as chaperone as needed and uses universal precautions with PPE. Prioritizes patient flow through the clinical process.

Coordinates and manages patient care including pre‑certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions, and scheduling of patients for clinic, hospital, and ancillary medical treatments and tests. Communicates test results to patients and may administer medications as directed.

Provides clerical support with patient notifications and documentation, completing medical records such as labs, authorizations, X‑Rays, hospital records, and other care. Delivers accurate billing information related to patient encounters.

Maintains a clean, functional environment by cleaning and disinfecting equipment, exam rooms, and storage areas. Performs basic equipment maintenance and coordinates repairs.

Orders supplies, stocks patient care areas, and manages medication inventory.

Develops and maintains effective communication mechanisms with all internal and external customers, exemplifying service orientation and teamwork.

Completes onboarding orientation activities, including simulation training as required.

Works under the direct supervision of providers, interacting with staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts. Prioritizes data from multiple sources to support patient responses to health status changes.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma/GED or equivalent knowledge.

Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations.

Active Medical Assistant Certification required (e.g., RMA, CMA, CCMA, NCMA). BLS certification required.

Strong computer skills and ability to use medical software.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.

For behavioral health positions serving children: Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and Arizona Criminal History Affidavit at hire and during employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with office medical procedures and treatments, and knowledge of insurance, managed care operations, EMR, and scheduling software.

Additional related education and/or experience.
