
Environmental Specialist

What You’ll Do
Your day‑to‑day will revolve around going to customer sites, assessing waste, and getting it moved safely. Specifically:
Pick up, package, label, and load hazardous waste and non‑hazardous containers at
Sample and profile waste streams to make disposal determinations
Prepare hazardous waste manifests and ensure all shipping paperwork is accurate and complete
Operate and maintain field equipment (box trucks, drum handling gear, PPE)
Communicate directly with customers – answer their questions, flag potential issues, and represent Veolia professionally on site
Follow all DOT, EPA, and Veolia health and safety procedures without exception

The right candidate is sharp, reliable, and comfortable doing physical work in all conditions. You don’t need to have every box checked on day one, we’ll invest in training the right person.
Required
High school diploma or GED
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Ability and willingness to obtain a Class B CDL with Hazardous Materials (H)
Must be clean-shaven (respirator fit requirement)
Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screening and submit to randomized drug testing applicable to all DOT safety‑sensitive positions
Physically able to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly, work on your feet all day, and handle outdoor conditions year‑round
Strong attention to detail – mistakes in this line of work have real consequences
Comfortable learning and applying federal regulations (DOT/EPA) to your daily work
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, environmental science, or a related field
Prior experience in hazardous waste, environmental services, or a regulated industry
40‑hour HAZWOPER certification (we will provide this training if you don’t have it)
CDL experience (we will put you through driving school to obtain a Class B CDL if you don’t have it)
