Position Summary
Responsible for performing all aspects of Central Florida Behavioral Hospital's intake and admission process, including efficient handling of inquiry calls, knowledge of and communication with referral sources, providing hospital and program information to individuals, agencies, facilities, and professionals, making outside referrals when appropriate, assessing and triaging an individual's mental health status, making patient safety and level of care recommendations to the CFBH physician, identifying insurance benefits, pre‑certification of patient care, completing all admission requirements, communicating patient safety concerns and pertinent patient information to unit nursing staff, and documenting all necessary information in Med Series 4.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
Requests clinical information on potential patients
Initiates verification of insurance coverage to determine viability of coverage for individuals seeking admission
Coordinates admissions with all necessary unit staff and physicians
Follows EMTALA regulations and identifies high‑risk individuals presenting for emergency care

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
Minimum one (1) year experience as a Registered Nurse required. Six (6) months experience in psychiatric nursing preferred.
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida.
Current CPR Certification required (Can be obtained upon hire)
Knowledge of current nursing procedures
Must be available to attend the full hospital and departmental orientations: Week 1: M-F 8 AM - 5 PM / Week 2: M & Tu 9 AM - 5 PM
