SENIOR REGISTERED NURSE SUPERVISOR
Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs, Alwyn C. Cashe State Veterans’ Nursing Home, Orlando, Orange County, FL.

Schedule: 8‑hour shift 8:00 am‑4:30 pm or 13‑hour shift 6:45 am‑8:30 pm, Monday‑Friday with occasional weekends and holidays.

This position is eligible for both overtime pay and an additional $1.00 per hour shift differential pay for qualifying shifts.

Minimum Qualifications

Valid CPR certification

Valid Florida Registered Nursing license

Supervisory experience in a long‑term care facility

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Willingness and ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required

Successful completion of the employment screening process, including a national background investigation and drug test

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with electronic medical/health records

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)

Experience with medication administration

At least one year as a Registered Nurse Supervisor

Position Description

Provide quality professional care to veteran residents, ensuring health, safety, and security in accordance with agency SOPs and the Nurse Practice Act.

Perform initial and ongoing assessment of the resident population.

Administer medications and treatments per MD orders, monitor residents, provide interventions, and maintain accurate clinical documentation.

Supervise and guide RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and allied health professionals.

Direct nursing personnel on assigned shifts and ensure compliance with job descriptions and regulatory requirements.

Coordinate shift assignments to meet nursing care needs.

Document work assignments and address absences to maintain staff coverage.

Notify the Administrator and/or DON of emergencies.

Make daily rounds to assess resident needs.

Observe all staff care at least once per eight‑hour shift.

Maintain nursing care standards and implement facility policies.

Follow local, state, and federal regulations.

Assist in reviewing policies and procedures.

Ensure reference materials at nursing stations are current; recommend updates.

Review and follow up on incidents or complaints.

Ensure all verbal orders, including telephone orders from physicians, are reviewed by an RN.

When no RN is available, receive telephone orders.

Assist the Nursing Program Specialist with pre‑interdisciplinary resident care assessments.

Plan Committee meetings and verify documentation for residents scheduled for Care Plans.

Ensure completion of any incomplete documentation within 24 hours of the Care Plan Conference.

Participate in cost‑effective use of supplies and maintain equipment safety.

Respond to emergency procedures for adverse events (e.g., cardiac arrest).

Maintain a clean and safe environment.

Engage in continuing education and quality improvement initiatives.

Perform other duties as assigned.
