We are seeking a Senior Systems Design Engineer to serve as a member of a Service Infrastructure team. This role is remote and has very limited travel requirements.
Key Responsibilities
The candidate will:
Develop, manage, and maintain system requirements, including documentation and traceability matrix development, ensuring traceability from stakeholder needs through design, implementation, and operations
Contribute to and facilitate preliminary design, critical design, and detailed design of systems with engineering teams. Lead design reviews, ensuring compliance with project requirements, codes, and standards
Support system verification and validation activities, including creating and executing test plans, system documentation, as-built records, and lessons learned
Work cross-functionally with project managers, engineering disciplines, operations, and executive leadership to ensure system implementation, integration,sustainmentand operations throughout the entire life cycle of the system
Scope and execute trade studies, analysis, research and development, preliminary and detailed system architecture designs, and system development of Enterprise Services
Develop junior and mid-level engineering personnel toleveragean Agile delivery practice, to include capturing and decomposing work around Epics, Stories, and Tasks
Maintain alignment to support Team Leads: infrastructure, networks, integration,logisticsplans, cybersecurity and physical security protection plans, and cost and schedule estimates for the development, fielding, tests, and operations
Coordinate with engineering leaders to support the application of process engineering and continuous improvement of non-manufacturing engineering processes
Communicate complex technical information to people of various backgrounds and disciplines
Provide status and briefings to leadership, to include senior government customers and stakeholders
Use interpersonal skills to solve both technical and organizational conflicts
Perform other assigned duties asrequiredto meet international requirements
Qualifications
Must have 10+ years of general (full-time) work experience
May be reduced with completion of advanced education
Must have 5+ years of directly related experience
Must have 1+ year of experience working in a management or leadership role
Must have a strong understanding of SE standards such as INCOSE SE Handbook or ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288
Must haveexpertisein systems engineering processes, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies and tools, and engineering documentation management
Must have (anddemonstrate) an understanding of agile team management concepts, practices, and methods and have training/education in agile delivery concepts
Must have a working knowledge of the following technical/management skills: information technology infrastructure, networking, Linux and Windows systems, virtualization, data storage management, system life cycle and change management
Must have experience using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visio or other Computer Aided Design (CAD) application, Agile workflow management applications (Microsoft Planner, Jira, Asana, Trello)
Must have, or obtain, an active DoD Secret Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
Have a STEM degree from an accredited college
Have documented experience developing and editing Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) products for major space and IT systems
Have skills in logical architecture modeling and/or interface definition, as well as knowledge of cyber security concepts and security accreditation
Be familiar with the C2BMC system and other Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) systems
Have experience mentoring junior employees toidentifyvalue and continuous improvement performance
