Job Description
Provide basic patient care under direction of nursing staff. Perform duties such as taking vitals, bathing, dressing, moving patients, changing linens and other duties as assigned. Obtain information on patient condition as requested by the nursing staff, and report any changes in patient condition.
Overview Of Unit/Department
CoxHealth is a Level I Stroke and Trauma Center; our 800 Neuro-Ortho unit is a 26‑bed unit that treats a wide range of complex conditions, including stroke, trauma, and neurosurgical cases. Patient ages range from 18 to 102, offering diverse clinical experiences. The unit is fast‑paced, dynamic, and emphasizes teamwork and support.

Nurse Assistant Training Program
Job Summary
Functions within a classroom and clinical learning environment to obtain training as unlicensed assistive personnel. During clinical rotation, perform basic patient care under the direction of a clinical educator and nursing staff, including taking vitals, bathing, dressing, moving patients, and changing linens. Obtain patient condition information as requested and report any changes. At the end of training, a competency assessment validates learning.

Preferred: Prior patient care or health care related experience

Job Requirements
Education
Preferred: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience
3 months experience as a nursing assistant in an inpatient or long‑term care setting, EMT, or surgical technologist in the past 3 years OR
Completed an Unlicensed Assistive Personnel Program within the past 3 years OR
Completed the “fundamentals of nursing” course with clinical in an accredited nursing program or practical nursing education program OR
Must have Missouri CNA License OR
Must have MO CNA Appendix AND MO CNA license must be obtained within 120 days of hire
