
Dental Assistant

Brief Description
The Dental Assistant is an integral part of the patient care team, supporting the patient to have a welcoming and safe dental experience and supporting the team to provide superior dental care. The Dental Assistant plays an active role in preparing for patient visits and providing support for dental procedures. The DA is responsible for accurate charting, equipment preparation and sterilization, and patient care coordination.
Responsibilities
Participates proactively as a member of the Dental team.
Ensures the preparation, organization and proper cleaning of the dental operatory, pre- and post‑visit.
Performs direct patient care responsibilities necessary to support the dental treatment.
Ensures that the patient’s dental chart is updated, complete and accurate in a timely manner.
Performs chair‑side support to effectively assist provider in treatment.
Properly performs cleaning and sterilization, using established quality control and safety protocols.
Actively coordinates continuity of patient care and follow‑up.
Provides excellent service and support to patients and colleagues.
Successfully adapts to changes in EDR, dental workflows and processes, and improvement efforts, including participating in employee training.
Requirements
Dental assisting education or training, typically obtained during completion of a certificate or license program in Dental Assisting up to one year in duration.
Must be able to obtain Dental Assistant licensure with the State of Washington.
Must be able to obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Ability to read and speak Spanish and/or Russian is required.
Must have reliable transportation and provide documentation of auto insurance and a valid driver’s license as required.
Travel between work sites is required as needed.
