Position Overview
The CNA is a member of the community nursing team whose responsibility is to assist professional nursing personnel by delivering direct hands‑on nursing care to ambulatory and non‑ambulatory residents on a daily basis. The CNA also assists residents to achieve the highest level of functioning while living as normally as possible.
Key Responsibilities
Assist residents with completing Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
Respond to residents’ call lights to provide maximum comfort, safety, and privacy.
Transport residents by ambulation or wheelchair to community areas (dining room, lobby, activities).
Report any significant findings or observations to the nurse immediately.
Assist residents during admission, transfer, and discharge to ensure a smooth transition.
Safekeep residents’ personal possessions.
Keep residents’ rooms neat and safe.
Follow proper infection control techniques.
Respect the rights of each resident, particularly privacy and confidentiality.
Re‑teach residents to perform ADL skills.
Provide restorative care to prevent pressure sores, contractures, and complications.
Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement and ensure follow‑up occurs.
Converse with residents and family, assisting them with adjustment to the community.
Ensure adequate hydration and nutrition of residents; report deviations from the norm to the charge nurse promptly.
Perform blood pressure, pulse, respirations, intake/output, and weights accurately.
Qualifications
Certified and state‑tested as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of employment; certificate must be active, valid, and in good standing.
Pay
$19–25 per hour.
