Responsibilities
This full‑time opportunity on our Behavioral unit offers 36 hours per week, full benefits, and a convenient overnight shift schedule. There is opportunity for overtime and to cover various shifts if interested.

Texas NeuroRehab Center is a specialized treatment facility located ten minutes from downtown Austin on 67 wooded acres. Originally a cattle ranch, the land was purchased in 1943 as part of the Brown Schools and has operated as a medical rehabilitation and behavioral healthcare facility for over 80 years. Today, Texas NeuroRehab Center provides complex medical and brain and spinal cord injury rehab for ages 13 years and older and neuropsychiatric treatment for youth. The capabilities of the facility as a whole allow for integrated and specialized care for children, adolescents and adults facing difficult challenges. Qualifications
Registered Nurse (RN) Job Requirements:

Skills Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, & interventions with patients. Knowledge of milieu management. Ability to direct subordinates in the performance of their duties. Ability to accurately administer medication and monitor side‑effects. Ability to safely implement Special Treatment Procedures. Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families. Skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation.

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Current Driver’s License or State issued Id. Current State of Texas Registered Nurse License. Current CPR certification. RN, CRRN preferred.

Experience: One year of inpatient medical surgery, medical rehabilitation experience preferred.

Physical/General Requirements: Able to sustain physical activity throughout scheduled shift. Able to remain on feet throughout scheduled shift. Able to lift, carry, and lower 50 pounds without assistance. Able to push patients on wheel chairs up and down hills and pursue running patients. Able to transfer patients to and from wheelchairs, beds, toilets, & vehicles. Verbal skills to communicate to deescalate a crisis situation. Writing skills to accurately convey patient behavior and status. Visual observation skills so as to convey verbally & in writing patient behavior. Writing skills to include legibility and correct grammar to convey patient behavior and other information in the patient chart. Ability to assist in direct patient care from prompting through total care (i.e. bath, diapering). Able to feed patients. Regular / required attendance. Hearing and vision sufficient to perform essential job functions. Emotional stability and ability to deal with changing priorities.
