
Registered Nurse Long Term Care

Summary: Plans, coordinates and provides nursing care for residents and provides supervision to CNA's. Scope of work may be modified by state specific rules under the Nurse Practice Act.
Essential Functions:
Initiates and leads team conferences in the development of individualized nursing care plans;
Assess and document the resident's condition and nursing needs;
Accurately and promptly implements physician orders;
Assigns nursing care to team members in accordance with the resident's needs and the team member's qualifications and capabilities;
Supervises, directs and evaluates LPN's and CNA's;
Administers medications, starts IVs and performs treatments for assigned residents and documents as required by Affinity Healthcare, local, state and federal regulations;
Reports and records pertinent observations, participates in Medicare/Care planning meeting and completes associated documentation within electronic medical record;
Coordinates nursing care of residents when scheduled for therapy or procedures;
Assists with or initiates emergency measures for residents;
Participates in orientation and in-service training;
Ensures that supplies are utilized appropriately and that equipment is in good working order (clean and maintained in a safe manner);
Supervises nursing unit, which includes scheduling, directing nursing staff to the extent permitted by state practice act;
Other duties as assigned.
