
Lab Technician - Chemistry & Microbiology

Position Summary
Join our Quality Control team as a Laboratory Technician and gain hands‑on experience performing chemical and microbial testing for raw materials and finished products in a regulated, GMP‑compliant environment. The role involves basic chemical and/or microbial analysis for one of the assigned QC laboratories (Raw Material, Finished Product, Microbiology, Technical Support), handling commercial material analysis and disposition, environmental samples, documenting results, and maintaining laboratory supplies, chemicals, and logbooks in accordance with SOPs.

Works Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM EST
Pay Range: $23 per hour
Start Date: ASAP
Responsibilities
Follow all laboratory SOPs, including safety, chemical handling and storage, gowning, equipment use, cGMP, GDP, data integrity, DEA requirements, etc.
Log and track all samples received in the lab for testing and release.
Perform physical chemistry testing (e.g., weighing, particle size analysis, LOD, moisture analysis), identification testing (FTIR, UV‑VIS, TLC), and wet chemistry testing (ICP‑OES/MS, titrations, pH, dissolution media, reagent preparation) in accordance with approved analytical methods.
Conduct microbiology sampling, plating, and testing, including media preparation, sterilization, and storage, following approved test methods.
Maintain proper labeling of chemical reagents.
Keep the laboratory clean and organized.
Assist in laboratory investigations as assigned.
Dispose of used, expired, and excess chemicals, solutions, and solvents in designated waste receptacles.
Report well‑written, accurate, and timely results.
Review data, calculations, notebooks, and reports for accuracy.
Perform routine metrology functions: instrument cleaning, preventive maintenance, calibration, and verification activities.
Monitor and assist with inventory levels of laboratory supplies.
Support sample receiving, chemical inventory, document filing, and housekeeping.
Comply with all safety regulations and maintain a safety‑first attitude.
Other responsibilities as assigned by Management.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
Associate’s degree or relevant work experience required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Knowledge of laboratory chemistry or microbiology and cGMPs; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, graphs/charts, and databases; able to multitask and meet tight deadlines; excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
Physical Demands
Required to sit and stand for extended periods.
Frequently reach with arms/hands up to 2 feet.
Good hand‑eye coordination.
Occasional walking and kneeling.
Capable of lifting and moving up to 50 pounds.
Requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Includes stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, bending, sitting, speaking, hearing, and climbing stairs.
Work Environment
Laboratory and production operations facilities with proximity to heavy machinery and pharmaceutical powders.
May move between production sites/areas and travel within the geographic area using a personal vehicle as needed.
Work hours/schedule may change based on business needs and management discretion.
Requires presence in the laboratory for daily testing and collaboration with department leadership.
