Overview
Job Title: CNC Sheet Metal Operator (Entry to Experienced)
Location: Newport News, VA
Job Type: Contract to Hire
Shifts Needed: 1st shift 7am to 3:30pm Monday Through Friday; 3rd shift 11:00PM to 7:00AM Sunday Through Thursday
Rate: $18 - $24/hr. (Depending on interview assessment and experience)
Key Responsibilities
Operate CNC machinery to bend and form sheet metal components
Use automated equipment to install hardware into metal parts
Perform spot welding to assemble sheet metal pieces
Set up, maintain, and clean tooling and equipment
Inspect finished parts to ensure dimensional accuracy
Work efficiently to meet production targets and deadlines
Handle materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, or manual methods
Count, organize, and stack completed parts
Remove burrs and sharp edges from finished products
Monitor product quality throughout the production process
Perform basic troubleshooting and report equipment issues
Follow all safety guidelines and standard operating procedures
Assist with additional tasks as needed
Basic Qualifications
Comfortable using computers to operate machinery and equipment
Strong reliability, punctuality, and attendance record
Ability to communicate clearly with team members and supervisors
Capable of lifting up to 75 lbs as required
Able to follow both written and verbal instructions
Preferred (Not Required)
Experience with CNC machine setup and operation in a manufacturing setting
Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints or drawings
Familiarity with precision measuring tools such as calipers
