
Registered Nurse

Responsibilities
Direct Patient Care:
Triage patients’ concerns to determine appropriate care needed.
Perform clinical procedures such as injections, wound care, dressing changes, catheter insertion/removal, and administering breathing treatments.
Respond to lifesaving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols.
Clinical Administration:
Respond to patient telephone inquiries and provider requests regarding medical concerns, lab results, refills, and referrals.
Provide provider coverage by determining the urgency of pending lab results, diagnostic imaging, and medication refills requested.
Document patient encounters and care plans in the electronic health records system.
Provide clinical coaching support and indirect supervision to medical assistants.
Complete ongoing/annual training for position compliance.
Provide shift coverage at other Neighborhood sites as directed.
Immunization Program Support/Oversight:
Review and compare needed records and abstract data to California Immunization Registry (CAIR), eClinicalWorks (eCW), and patients’ immunization records, including identifying when immunizations are due.
Verify immunization orders for accuracy, such as correct vaccine, dosage, expiration date, and age.
Provide vaccine information statements (VIS) and administer vaccines as ordered.
Document vaccines administered in CAIR, eCW, and patient vaccine records.
Schedule recall appointments for upcoming due vaccines.
Ensure all forms are kept up to date, such as VIS forms.
Complete and submit required reports, including vaccines administered, reminder/recall reports, state flu reports, and other reports as necessary.
Manage vaccine inventory to maintain accurate inventory, manage supply expiration dates, and rotate stock to avoid waste.
Place vaccine orders in a timely manner to prevent running out of vaccines or creating an oversupply.
Perform routine cleaning standards to maintain refrigerators and freezers for vaccines.
Conduct proper handling, storage, and management of vaccines in compliance with Vaccines for Children (VFC) / Vaccines for Adult (VFA) Guidelines.
Provide staff immunization training in conjunction with medical assistant training as needed.
Provide periodic vaccine updates, in-services, or information to staff as needed.
Monitor and record refrigerator and freezer temperatures at least twice a day.
Assist vaccine excursions in alignment to standard protocols.
Patient Education:
Initiate a patient education plan and provide education according to individual needs as prescribed by provider and/or clinic policy, including patient and family instructions.
Provide ongoing support and continuous assessment for international normalized ratio (INR) patients.
Educate and instruct patients regarding lab tests, results, medication functions, and expectations to gain cooperation and allay apprehension.
Education / Experience
Associate’s degree in nursing required; Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
CA RN license required.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through an American Heart Association (AHA)-approved source required upon hire and must be maintained as a condition of employment.
Two years’ clinical, outpatient, or general medicine experience preferred.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Valid CA driver’s license or out‑of‑state driver’s license for active military personnel/spouses required.
Proof of auto insurance required.

Familiarity with location of nearest fire extinguisher and emergency exits.
Follow all infection control procedures, including blood‑borne pathogen protocols.

Pay and Compensation
Pay range: $50.10 to $75.10 per hour, depending on experience and additional qualifications.
