Position Summary
The Nursing Assistant aids professional and technical nursing personnel by taking and recording vital signs, assisting patients with hygiene and elimination, maintaining a clean and safe unit environment, stocking unit supplies, operating hospital equipment as directed, performing routine clerical tasks, and assisting with other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Understanding of basic medical terminology
Nursing Assistants hired prior to May 2010 who did not possess certification as a Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) are not required to obtain it at this time
Ability to work variable shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English
Certified Nurse Assistant, Licensed Vocational Nurse, or currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program with completion of at least one clinical semester
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic manner
Demonstrated patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting
Current Basic Life Support certification issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire
