The Dietitian / Bariatric Coordinator provides nutrition education and counseling to clinic patients and patient groups. Assesses the nutritional needs of the outpatient, develops and implements a nutrition care plan. Develops and implements programs for the general public, community organizations and for professional staff. The Dietitian / Bariatric Coordinator will assist and work directly with the MBS Director. The MBS Coordinator will attend the required meetings, including the annual comprehensive review meeting, assist in program development, manage the accreditation process, ensure compliance with MBSAQIP Standards, and educate team members with a focus on metabolic and bariatric patient safety. The MBS Coordinator must be present and actively participate in each MBSAQIP site visit for their current center.

Qualifications

Certifications: Registered Dietitian (RD) – Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR); Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics; Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition

Responsibilities

Provide nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy integrated with the patient’s medical goals.

Identify and provide age‑specific nutrition counseling to meet the cultural needs of patients and their families.

Evaluate, interpret, monitor and document the nutritional status and nutritional needs of patients using established standards of care and practice guidelines.

Develop, review, update and implement educational materials to meet the needs of patients and professionals.

Pre‑operative nutrition assessment and documentation for patients seeking weight loss surgery.

Pre‑operative weight management and nutritional education for patients seeking weight loss surgery.

Provide education to patients regarding dietary guidelines for the immediate post‑operative period after weight loss surgery.

Provide ongoing patient education for diet advancement and continued weight management after weight loss surgery.

Participate in the Bariatric multi‑disciplinary committees to improve patient outcomes.

Lead Bariatric Patient Support Group to provide ongoing education and support for patients on their weight loss journey in a group setting.

Lead the Bariatric Information Seminar to provide information regarding weight loss surgery in a group setting.

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation range for this position is $26.10 per hour – $43.59 per hour. This represents a good‑faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
